Selected on Merit Based for the Award of Laptop

I hope you will be well and good. I'm here with an exciting achievement of my life as a student. I was selected for the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme on merit. This scheme was launched in 2023 and luckily because of the good grades I became in the list of the high achievers and was selected to get the award of the laptop. Today the moment arrived when it was announced that the laptop will be distributed to all the deserving merit based selected students. I was waiting for this day curiously. Let me tell you the steps to receive my laptop.

On March 23, 2025 I was informed that the laptop distribution ceremony will held on March 24, 2025. The merit list was also attached with the notification of distribution. Indeed I was already selected but again fearfully and with curiosity I opened the merit list and I found my name in the selected list. There were no limits of my happiness. I was waiting for this moment for the last 2 years. I reached university at 9:00 am.

There was the requirement to submit the affidavit to inform the university that I have never received any laptop under any government scheme and all of my documents are original and my grades in the university are also correct. All the other students were also there to get their laptop. It was the requirement to get the signature of the chairperson of the department on the laptop issuance form. All the students were waiting for the arrival of the chairperson including me. After some time he came and as soon as he arrived all the students of the computer science department requested him for the signatures. I got signatures on my documents.

The venue for the distribution of laptop ceremony was auditorium of the university. I reached there and I saw many other students there as well. On enquiring I came to know there is already a ceremony happening of Pakistan day and it will end on 12:00. I had to wait for more than half an hour. It was sunny outside so I did not go to anywhere outside the building but I sat in the gallery at one side to wait for the completion of this current ceremony. Because after this auditorium will be empty and it will be available for laptop distribution ceremony.

After the end of the Pakistan Day ceremony the auditorium hall became empty. All the students entered the auditorium. The seats were booking at great speed. I also got the seat at one side of the wall. It was almost in the middle of auditorium. I sat there and did wait for the start of the ceremony. The super focal person arrived in the auditorium for whom all the students were waiting.

The super focal person came into contact through the mic with everyone. He called all the focal persons of the departments to come into the auditorium hall along with the list of the students of their department. He asked them to verify the students and CGPA of the students. I was the only boy who was selected for the laptop from my class and my CR and GR were also not available. Our focal person was busy in the department but after waiting for sometime he arrived and all the computer science department students became really happy.

He asked the CRs and GRs of all the sections to collect the documents from the students and come to me for the verification. One female student from my class took this responsibility and she collected the documents from all the students of my class including me. We were 7 students who were selected for the laptop scheme and 6 were girls and 1 was boy who is me. Saba collected documents from all of us along with the CNIC and Student Card. She did wait for other classes to be completed and then she got verification of the documents of my class.

There were many students and some students were facing some errors and they were looking very worried. There was the problem in the list of the marks issued by the examination cell. But alhamdulillah my verification was completed without any error. Some students including me were feeling very tired and I was also feeling sleepy because of continuous wait. This student behind me was also sleeping and I was taking a selfie and he saw me and smiled.

After the verification all the students were going to the next room where the super focal person was sitting. There was the complete team and there was again verification. I was in the queue for more than an hour to reach the room. Aaaah it was very painful and hectic to stand in the line and reach the room to revive my laptop at the final stage. Finally after a lot of wait I entered the room. And there were around 5 students already standing there.

The team member got my CNIC and entered the data into the laptop to check my name and my details. He verified my details and I was really very curious because they were rejecting the students as well. I became happy when he asked the other team member to scan the laptop on my CNIC. Then he sent me towards the super focal person for the issuance signatures. And I received my laptop bag as well.

I was feeling really very happy after receiving my merit based laptop for which I was waiting for the long time. But I missed my father at this prestigious moment of my life the more because he had a desire to see my merit based laptop. But before I got my laptop my father passed away 😔. It is how I received my merit based laptop because of getting higher grades than other students.
